When you must make precise temperature measurements, Physitemp can provide you with a very accurate monitor and thermocouple microprobes. Physitemp monitors have a resolution and accuracy of 0.1°C in the 0-50°C range and are traceable to NIST standards. Other competitive electronic thermometers might have 0.1°C resolution, but their accuracy is usually to 0.5°C or worse. Furthermore, all our type T clinical probes are guaranteed accurate to 0.1°C, due to our stringent wire standards. These are five times more accurate than competitive probes made with regular "Special Limits" wire.
Becausetemperature is a fundamental variable which affects all biologicaland chemical activity, Physitemp's products find applications in awide array of technical situations. Some of the more commonapplications are as follows:
- Our tiny flexible Teflon microprobes are used for implantationin tissue, in spectrophotometer cuvettes, rectally in neonatalmice, in water baths, PCR thermal cyclers, etc...
- Our multisensor probes can be used to map tumor temperatureprofiles during hyperthermia
- Animal rectal temperatures during surgical procedures andpyrogen testing
- Skin temperature measurement during exercise physiologystudies
In addition to our precise temperature monitoringequipment, we offer a complete line of thermoelectric heating andcooling stages for both microscopes and microtomes. Our thermalstages fit most microscopes and enable the temperature of aspecimen to be maintained and regulated at any temperature between-20° and +100°C to within 0.1°C. We also make custom stages forspecial applications. Our freezing stages for microtomes offer aninexpensive solution to frozen tissue sections and fit easily ontomost microtomes. Freezing starts immediately and can be maintainedindefinitely.
Ourneurological testing devices, the Vibratron II, vibrationsensitivity tester and the NTE-2, thermal sensitivity tester weredesigned to measure the sensitivity of a person's fingers and toesin order to detect peripheral neuropathy non-invasively. Ourneurological testing devices are being widely used in currentmedical applications for the detection and diagnosis of CarpalTunnel Syndrome as well as in pharmaceutical research studies onDiabetes and AIDS.
